A Note From Our Visionary
After attending one of my previous installations, “LUMA Vol. I”*, someone shared with me, “It hit me hard how your “Muses” showcased such deep vulnerability that gave their strength context and meaning”.
Throughout my life, I have learned time and time again that choosing to be “soft” in a sometimes “hard” world is an act of courage, not weakness. When we invite others into the more intimate parts of our headspace and heartspace, we help them better understand why and how we are each such resilient beings.
Vulnerability and resiliency have grounded me throughout this seven year journey (2018-present) that has led to the creation and conception of Humanize.
It is my hope and belief that Humanize fosters a life-long mission: To Grow Humanity in Each Other and Create Authentic Connection for All.
xoxo,
*”LUMA Vol. I” was a two-day community art experience which had 200+ attendees and was hosted at the Indianapolis black-owned and operated art gallery and nonprofit, 1000 Words. The project included 1:1 interviews with seven Indianapolis residents. The LUMA team used artistic components including photography, videography, and sound design to highlight each person. Their stories were transformed to launch the “LUMA Vol. I” Installation, a collection of 17 art and storytelling pieces.
